face mask, FFP3, H1N1, hand sanitizer, N95

19th June night..

Chulet will be flying to USA tomorrow morning. With the recent ‘HooO Haah’ about the H1N1 flu virus going around, Chulet armed herself with all the medication she could think off and 4 different varieties of face-mask!!

 So, what did Chulet bought?

3-ply mask which is suppose to be good for 2-3 hours

4-ply which last for 4-5 hours.

3M 8511 N95 mask which is suppose to last for 12 hours

3M 9332 FFP3 Face Mask that is almost the same as the N95 mask only that this mask has a cool flow valve (which suppose to help with the comfort factor)

 The damage?

3-ply >> RM0.60/pcs

4-ply >> RM1.00/pcs

N95 >> RM5.00/pcs

FFP3 >> RM20.00/pcs (so expensive!! But, I guess if you have to have your face-mask on flight of more than 12 hours!! Being comfortable is VERY very important )

Now, the question is whether to wear the face-mask or not? Many people don’t bother with the face-mask as they feel that it is like making a big fuss over small issue. Many advices are to ensure to keep hand clean at all time. The hand sanitizer is suppose to be your best friend. Wet Wipes are super popular as well. One guy advice traveller to wipe down the flight seat and table before using them. Chulet thought that seems like a really smart idea.

So, mask or no mask??

20th early morning….

to be continue.

boil coke, cough, flu, honey, redoxon, salted water, sore throat, steam face, vitamin C

Oink oink.. Chulet is sick.

It is so HOT !! and Hazy lately!! Spending a short time in the open air is such a torture. Chulet is suffering from a really bad sore throat and nose block after a short 30-minutes chat outside the office yesterday.

The sore throat got worst after dinner. Nose block was so bad that I had to breath throught my mouth which gets it dry and irritated my throat. Now, Chulet is coughing also. Sigh…

A few advice given to Chulet are such as:

1)      Drink more water

(Chulet : OO.. mummy say honey is good… so, all the water I take now is slightly honey-ed)

2)      Sipping warm salted water before and after sleep

(Chulet : Hate it but it seems to work really well, especially before sleeping)

3)      One dosage of Redoxon effervescent (Concentrated Vitamin C + zinc) every morning

(Chulet : YUMmm… fizzy orangy drink. I like !! can I have more? Will I get oversode?)

4)      Stay away from fried / oily / spicy food

(Chulet : Sobb sob.. Do I have to?)

5)      No COLD drinks / food

(Chulet : I’ll try ..T_T )

6)      Stay in-door

(Chulet : Yay..MC !! MC !!!  NO.. Bad Bad.. Chulet.. chulet must go to work. )

7)      Supposedly having capsicum juice helps.

(Chulet : Haven’t tried that – not sure if I want to try it)

8)      Boil coke with ginger and lemon

(Chulet found that this drink is quite a norm in Hong Kong)

9)      Covering face with towel over a bowl of steaming hot  water and breath. Helps to clear the block nose after 10 minutes and sooth the throat a little.

(Chulet tried and love this.. felt like a mini-just on the face-spa.. hehehhee)

10)  IF you are still suffering after 3 days. PLEASE GO SEE a doctor

 (Chulet : NOoooNo.. don’t want !! don’t take me there.. NOOnOOOO )

death, loss, wake

Genesis 3:19 (New International Version)

“By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return”

Chulet type, delete, typed, deleted and re-typed again and again for many many times. Chulet is not even sure how to approach this subject without sounding cliché.

Death seems so distant until it struck us when we least expects it. It can creeps up and jumps out of nowhere taking someone dear to us, whether it is someone’s mother, brother, father, sister, cousins, grandparents, son, daughter, niece, nephew, uncle, aunty or friends.

The pain will never be able to be described by words.

No words will be able to bring comfort.

Chulet just recently attended a wake and funeral service of a very dear friend’s youngest brother. I’ve known this friend for almost 18 years and I was there when the brother was born.

He’s 16 turning 17 in Oct. So young, so innocent, still a baby to his family.

He is still a boy in his’ baby steps inching to cross over to be a young man and begins his journey. He never traveled, never experience university life, the joy of graduating, struggle of getting his first job and pay, finding his life-mate, sharing his experiences with his little ones… and many many more.

Very sad indeed. Losing our love ones are not something easy to get over with.

As time goes by, even when are out of tears and no longer carries sharp pain in our heart, the lost will always be there. Even when we find the strength to go on with our life, certain moments brings back memory so strong, the pain so sharp, tears flows again.

Many say that time heals – including the lost of our love ones. But, we will never forget… never ever forgets.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to my friend for the loss.
