Abscess traditional treatment

abscess, finger, lime, pain, pus, swelling, traditional treatment

I had a small abscess on my finger recently. It was rather painful and was getting swollen with pus. I tried to ignore the pain by putting a plaster on it. After one day, it seemed to have gotten worse… It’s not a great pain but more like a thorn on the side kind of thing I guess. The picture don’t really show clearly the pus. It’s right at the side of the fingernail.

abscess

While bringing baby to see a Doctor, hubby took the opportunity to ask the Doc if he have any recommendation to cure my abscess. The doctor told us about this old school method. He say to wear a ‘ring’ over the finger. At first, I thought the doc was joking, but he was really serious about it and even tried to Google it for us… LOL (very nice guy). Had a nice chat with him.

After that, hubby went off to hunt for the lime and went to work to create a ‘ring’ / ‘cap’ for my finger. basically, he cut off the top of the lime and made a hole in the center of the lime.

lime treatment

I patiently went about doing things with the little finger lime ‘cap’. Since we forgot to ask the Doc how long to wear it, we decided to only have it on for 30 mins. You won’t want to have it too long anyway, it was starting to hurt a bit after the 30 mins. I took it off and rinse it with water.

I didn’t repeat the process again but waited for about 3 days. Interestingly, it was starting to show signs of healing. The swelling is slowly subsiding and the pus is turning solid… chinese call this healing as starting to ‘cook’ (don’t ask me why). I got hubby to help take this picture so that you can see the abscess more clearly.

After 3 days

After a week, the pus got really solid and I basically peel it off… hehehe.

Quite an interesting treatment.

Why I still hate Dentist

dental, dentist, tooth extraction

Quietly staring at the phone. Chulet knows she has no choice but to call the dental centre.

Picking up the phone, she silently pray that the dentist will not be free and the next appointment will be one week later. (hopefully by then, the teeth no longer pains and there’s no need to go T__T )

No such luck. Dentist is free for 2pm appointment today.

Stared at the clock, 1:15pm … 45 mins to go.

2pm.

Sitting in the clinic. Name called. Walk the long hallway.

This is why I hate dental office. Then I recall, the last trip to a dental office was like 5 years ago.

Saw my dentist. A young girl.

OH NOOOoo.. my heart drop. Is she experience? How many teeth has she pull out? Should I pretend to have an urgent sms and RAN !!??

I braved myself and told myself it will be all ok.

Laying myself down onto the chair, she started examining my teeth.

She say the teeth turns yellow and it is dead already. Advice me to pull it out..!!

WHAT???!!! deep breath… ok ok…i can do it. I gave her the nod to proceed.

She inject something onto the gum and I start feeling numb…

ooo… numb is good.. This mean no pain, rite?

After she extract, she say the root of the teeth broke.

WHATTT??!!! Need further extraction. sobb sob…

Supposedly my teeth was quite brittle and deep.

So, she had to dig and dig and dig for a LONGGGG time.

Each time she say it’s done, she do a re-check and say still got one more. She did it like for 4 -5 times..

By then, I was shivering and praying… There was no pain yet but I am getting anxious.

Should I jump out from the chair and ran to another more experience dentist…?

Each time I persevere.  Telling myself it will be over soon.

Finally, she manage to extract the root out.

Bill was about RM 140 !! and she took over an hour and half (90mins) to extract ONE small teeth (this is not even those big teeth… it’s one of my baby teeth in front !!)

Went home, numb and tired.

Bleeding stopped after 3 hours later. Pop pain killer like nobody’s business.

This morning, I am still feeling pain.

The BIG teeth next to the small teeth which she pull out is having a throbbing pain. and when I gentle press it, it was a sharp pain. SHIT !!!

Is that normal… sobsob.. now I am worry.. sighh….

Should I go and see another dentist.. or should I just wait a few days more to see if it still hurts?

HELP !!! T___T

Intense Pulse Light (IPL) treatment -__-

Hair removal, Intense Pulse Light, IPL

Chulet has always been fascinated with the permanent hair removal possibility !!

Think about it .. No more tweezing, No more waxing !! No MORE hairy ..erm.. parts.

Fortunately, chulet is not very very hairy. But then there are certain occasion / functions whereby it will be required that I undergo the torture of being waxed. I am thankful that I am not as hairy as some. When I was watching Sex in the City, there was one scene where Harry went for waxing for his beloved. The pain when I hear the loud ripping sound… brr.. Those who wax, will know.

So, you would understand why the thought of permanently removing it sounds heavenly.. ;oP

Chulet also is very very scare of pain.. sob sob. When I was young, chulet had to go for some injection thingy. Chulet scream and cry so loud that the some of the people at the waiting room actually jumped out from the chair (according to the nurse – who know my mom very well) anyway, getting back to IPL..

Several years back, many of chulet’s friend went for Laser treatment and some of them came back with feedback that it is only little pain..

Chulet : HOW Little?

Friend : aiyah.. very very little.. just a quick prick.

Chulet : what you mean by prick? like needle prick? O__O

Friend : well.. more like ant bites.

Chulet : ANT ?? Red ant or black??

Friend : (roll their eyes)

Anyway, the point is I am really scare of pain and I HATE pain. So, I decided not to take the risk..

Recently, a good friend introduce chulet to IPL. (well, it was not really like introduce but sort of like throw into it). The friend was doing the IPL treatment and I was suppose to meet this friend there after my hair-cut. When I was there in the ‘clinic’, the lady there educate me about IPL. Somemore she throw in a free ‘one shot’ trial for me. She claim that it is PAIN-less… WOW…. no pain le.. Chulet is super interested already.

So, Chulet obediently  follow the nice lady to the room. The lady started explaining that she will first roll on some cold thingy on me before she zap one shot onto me. After zapping, she ask me if I feel anything. Truthfully, there was no pain !! I didn’t feel anything. probably numb from the cold. After that, she smile at me and ask if I want to do the whole area.. (chulet thought about it…for like 5 second) and nod my head.

The lady happily zapped away. .. zap.. zapp.. Zap… still not pain !

The whole process lasted for like 5 – 10 minutes and it was done. (huh? so fast?) After that, I was told to come back in for another 6 sessions, (1 month apart)

The result from only one session seems like it is starting to work.. (Happy happy..)

Can’t wait for the second session….
