2012, nuit blanche, Paris

alas…

All hopes to witness the nuit blanche was totally dashed for me when Paris won’t stop raining from morning till wee hours. Hub and I was loitering around shopping centres in Paris, hoping to escape the rain until it stops. Unfortunately, it didn’t stop at all !!!

So, we thought we will wait it out in our room (getting some rest in preparation for walking we will need to do for the nuit blanche). The rain continue to pour until 11:30pm. By then, I was super sleepy and also felt too lazy to move since we have to wake up by 6:30am to catch our flight. Hub was still quite gung-ho about venturing into the night, but, seeing how I was so reluctant to leave, he sweetly stayed back to keep me company. aww… thanks hub.

So, I’m sorry to announce that I won’t have any material to blog about the 2012 nuit blanche in Paris.

2012, 6th october, France, nuit blanche, Paris, white night

After almost 2 weeks of travelling around France (for work), i finally had the time to sit down and hopefully upload a quick post. Just learned that tomorrow is the annual Nuit Blanche in Paris.

Nuit Blanche which translate as white night, is a late-night art festival event which begins it’s roots in Nantes, France 1984. It’s so popular that soon many cities adopt this idea and have their own version of late-night cultural festival. (I read that over 120 cities in the world celebrate this now)

Interestingly eventough this event was created in France, it is only adopted in Paris from 2002.  Paris celebrates this annual event on the first saturday in october every year now.

This year, it will be on 6th October (which is tomorrow). It’ll start from 6:30pm to 5:30am the next day ! and coincidently, hub and I will be heading into Paris tomorrow morning (yay !)

Train / metro lines will be open all night thru to the next morning. And, it’s free between 2am – 5:30am (the next day). how cool is that?! And Museums are going to open their door to visitor all night long for free too. Wow.

hmm… I wonder if this means that shopping centres are also open all night long?!!! hehehe…

OOO… and for my friends and family in Melbourne, I read on wiki that Melbourne will host Australia’s first white night in 2013 !!!

till tomorrow night then. (I better get more rest tonight if I’m going to be partying all night tomorrow…Muahahaaa.)

angelina, France, hot chocolate, Paris

The only drawback of staying in Malaysia is the constant heat. Yesterday’s heat was terrible. I felt like I was melting even after shower. oo… how I miss winter !!! (A lot of people think I’m weird. But, I love COLD weather so much !!!)

And when I think of winter, I start missing Angelina’s hot chocolate! Thanks to my friend Jim & Jenn for introducing La Maison Angelina to me.

Now, whenever I am in Paris, I will definitely drop by to grab a cup of hot chocolate. (The restaurant is near the Tuileries Metro, along Rue de Rivoli) The place is super pack especially during lunch / tea time. So, it might be a good idea if you call in to make reservation. Personally, I am not a big fan of queues or making reservation (it’s never possible to know your time when you are on business trip)

So, what I normally do is just grab a cup to go. I enjoy sipping it slowly while taking a nice stroll in the garden, enjoying the view and cold air. Hub was not very impress with the hot chocolate, but, he really likes the mont-blanc pastry. (No picture – as he wallop the whole thing before I remember to snap…) It tasted chestnut-ish filled with cream in the centre. my turn to be not overly impressed. (hehehe)

aih… and now, I miss Paris too.
