We were around semenyih area around lunch time after the Cheng beng festival. After driving along the main road searching for food, we finally settle on this little quaint restaurant. The name of the restaurant caught hub’s eye and I was quite curious. Seow Man Hot Soups

After settling down, we ordered from the short list of items from their menu. I think it’s a good tactic especially when you are a small restaurant. Better to focus on what you are really good at and also keep the inventory of perishable down.

Claypot white pepper soup with pork and chicken

I am a big fan of white pepper soup. So, I was delighted when they place it down in front of me. yumm… love it. Really tasty without it being too spicy from the pepper. Personally, I prefer the chicken over the pork for this style.

Claypot pork in chinese wine

We also had the claypot pork in chinese wine. This was really yummy and goes really well with rice. hehehe… hub’s favourite (of course ;p)

Sizzling tofu Omelette

The sizzling tofu was pretty good too. I love the omelette underneath the sizzling plate. Be careful to scrap it up as soon as the egg cook and not let it sit too long (or it will charcoaled).

It’s not bad… Price is pretty reasonable. If I am ever around Semenyih, I’ll probably drop by again.

Blue swimmer, Clams, crab, Fish, kuala selangor, Kuala Sungai Seafood Restaurant, lunch

A lot of people find it a hassle to eat crab. Hub is one of those who rather not eat them because he feels that the time took to pry these open is not worth it. I on the other hand is at the other end of the spectrum. I love to eat crabs and if you leave me alone, I can easily polish off one kg (about 3 crabs) of crabs by myself. Ho ho ho…

When my cousin came back from Melbourne for holiday, we decided to head down to Kuala Selangor for some really fresh seafood. Even tough the restaurant didn’t had a lot of selection (due to the rainy weather – no much fisherman went to sea), whatever they had was really fresh. The cool view from where we sit while enjoying the fresh seafood.   The River viewWe had Steam Pari (Ray-fish) in sweet and sour soup. The fish was really fresh and the soup was very appetizing. I could easily finish the whole plate by myself with one plate of rice. hehehe…Steam Rayfish in sweet and sour soupNext, the steam clams in clear soup. This was so-so only. The clams are a little on the skinny side, but, still fresh. The clear soup was quite bland in my opinion.

Steam clams with clear soupNow for the main stars of the day…We had 3 steam blue swimmer crabs and 4 local mud crabs in duck yolk. I love blue swimmer crabs. it’s so hard to find them nowadays. Was so excited when I saw some swimming in their tank. yay !!!

The steam blue swimmer crabs were amazing!!! The meat was chunky and has a fresh bounce when you sink your teeth into it. The simple steam was just prefect as it let you taste the subtle natural sweetness of the crabs. It was prefect.

Steam Flower CrabThe mud crab was also super fresh. I love the duck yolk taste. It was done just right, slightly salty with touch of sweetness. Nom nom nom… Crab coated with Duck yolk

It was a great lunch and had a superb time catching up with my beloved couz. Hugz… I miss you so much already.

Café-Café Restaurant – KL, Malaysia

anniversary, Café-Café, french dining, KL, romantic dinner

It was a weekday (the exact date for our anniversary) and unplanned. Hub just decided on the spot when I meet him after work. We call café-café to check if they have a spot for 2 and off we go. Traffic was surprisingly ok and we manage to rock in there really early, before 6:45pm. The place was still empty.

Romantic-Dramatic ambience

Greeted by friendly staff and they start us off with some refreshing drinks. The place is still as pretty and romantic as I remember it. It was almost 5 years since we last come here. Hub brought me here when we were still dating. So, it was kind of sweet of him to bring me here for a quiet dinner that night.

The menu has definitely changed over the time but I still see some familiar dishes on it. We ordered their fix menu and chatted happily sipping on our wine while waiting for our food to arrive.

For starters…

Honey Truffles Prawn Foie Gras Scallop EscargotThe prawn was quite fresh. hub love it… We both like the pan sear foie gras (the portion is much smaller than it was last time). Scallop was over-cooked (sigh…) and we were abit shock by the escargot… because on the menu it mention Escargots in Ratatouille. This is Escargots à la Bourguignonne! We felt that it was a little too heavy on the garlic (and hub is a super garlic fan somemore).

For mains…

Black Angus TenderloinLamb Medallion

Black Angus Tenderlion and Lamb Medallion. Beef quality was not impressive. Lamb was ok. In fact, hub and I both preferred the condiments around that plate more than the main star itself. oh well…

Before dessert, they present us with strawberry / raspberry sorbet which was rock solid hard. lol… we were abit shock because normally sorbet we have are nice and fluffy. a tad too sweet for palate cleanser…

After that, they serve us petite four. I love the earl grey and green tea cake on the right. The cheese was so-so… the macaroons is an acquired taste (The flavor is too intense and unique, so-not-for-me). Hub almost laugh when i was struggling to not spit it out. lol. it’s definitely the most horrible macaroons flavor we have ever try. And, we have tried ALOT….

Petit Four

For dessert,

Chocolate Lava cakewe had the chocolate lava and Crème brûlée. The original fixed was tiramisu. But, I’ve taste enough tiramisu in Malaysia to know non i can find here is comparable to what I have in Europe. So, I gave up on tiramisu in Malaysia. They were nice enough to change it for us. I really like the lave cake. It’s very nicely moist and fresh. The scatter of slightly salted sesame crumbles is a very nice touch for the palette.

I can’t say that the food is great all the way. There’s definitely some hits and miss. But, we had fun and the ambiance was still romantic. Happy Anniversary dear.
