Kil-le-pitsch. (that was how I was taught to pronounce)

#Innovative Baker introduce this to me during my last visit to Dusseldorf. It was winter and we were kinda cold from walking a lot on the street. So, she pop us into this little bar to get a shot of it.

She told us that it’s good for health and it’s made with herbs, spices, fruits and berries. (sort of like yomeishu i guess…or dom). Wow… since 1858 !!! more than a century old.

Since this was my first time trying this.. I took a small sip. I was shocked. I could feel the burning sensation all the way from my throat right to my tummy. Hohoho… it was quite a cool sensation, actually. Hubby say it kinda reminded him of sambuca (I’ve never tasted sambuca… so, i’ll take his word for it).

There’s a shop next to the bar where you can pop in to get the killepitsch in all sort of shapes and sizes. so, we couldn’t resist ourselves and bought this back for our friends to try. Got 2 sets of the 25 x 0.02 litre packs.

hmm… I still have a few stash in my fridge. I wonder if I can make a dish out of it ??
hehehe.

After using the HCE granite sink for a month (Read on why I choose this sink here), I really like it a lot. The only drawback is that IT’s not BIG enough. hehehee…

The color I chose is grey. I love how it makes the little specks of my quartz countertop more prominent. After hunting around, I finally matched it with a mixer from Sorento. I love how sleek it looks. The combination is perfect !!! (in my opinion anyway). hehehe..

Ta-da. Here’s my sink up close and personal. 😉

ohh.. Look..I even got the grill matching with the sink. (Actually, I got the sink to match my grills. hehehee)

I find the best way to clear the sink of water droplets after using, is to sweep it down with a squeegee (window wiper). It is really easy and fast.

Update : July 2013

Hi Ivan H & Pauline,

After some digging around, I finally manage to find a picture I took of the sink before they cover it with the quartz.

Sink mountingAs you can see, the sink is mounted like a top mount on the wooden carcase first. The contractor makes a step down so that the sink sit flush to the wooden surface.

After that, they lay the quartz stone over the sink. As per the picture above. Hope this helps. 🙂

The first time I had Garrett was back in 2007. I was in Chicago for work and my hotel happened to be about 5 minutes away from their shop. While I was walking around hunting for dinner, I got a whiff of this amazing caramel butter smell in the air.

Trusting my nose, I continue to sniff my way to their shop. Hahaha… I was with a colleague then and she thought I was crazy. Anyway, we finally locate this cute popcorn shop and was surprise to see a queue there just to buy popcorn. Without hesitation, I join the queue.

I was cautious and only bought a small bag to try with my colleague. Both of us was hooked ! We went back there several times during our stay in Chicago. And bought back Big tins of them to Malaysia. hahaha… it was so funny when the custom stop us and ask us what we bought. We open to show them…and, it was popcorn. (YES – they raised their eyebrow).

So, when I found out that Garrett is coming to town, I was super excited… (This is one of their branch in KLCC)

Unfortunately, it was abit of a disappointment. It was definitely not as great as the ones I had in Chicago.. But then again, it is much better than the ones we currently have in Malaysia. Oh well.. Better than nothing – i guess.

I bought a bag to keep around as snack. On days which I need an extra pick-me-up, I add a heap of ’em into my bowl of cornflakes !!! Yummz… I LOVE it with milk. :p
