To me, Geneva exude a very peaceful and calm ambiance pretty much like any other big European town. Mostly everyone we meet here speaks french. Our friend told us that we are lucky since we arrive during the non-peak season. Our friend kindly brought us around the town.

Before that, we stroll along the park by the river. It was beautiful. With the trees turning color and a comfortable cooling breeze. Strolling by the Park along the LakeLake ViewSwans by the LakeBe careful not to hang around near to these majestic swans. They do jump out of the water and chase after you. ;p

After several hours of walking, I was super tired (since we just landed on that day itself!!!) and hungry. Unfortunately, it was only around 4pm and seems a little early for dinner.

So, our friend propose we try this little “bieres artisanales” pub in the town. How can one resist that?! We quickly made our way to the brasserie du Molard.

Brasserie du MolardThey have 3 types of in-house brewed beer – Blonde, Blanche, and Amber. We only ordered 2 types – Blanche and Amber. While we wait for our order, I was so amazed by the huge and beautiful copper vessels which brew the beer. Unfortunately, my pictures were all not so good and blurry. So, I’m not able to post it here.

Pizza to go with the beerAfter that, we continue to stroll around the town and I was busy salivating at all the beautifully hand crafted chocolates displayed by the windows. It’s so gorgeous! Almost wanted to buy everything on display. hahaha…

Blue Pool, Emerald Pool, jungle trekking, Krabi, Sa Morakot, Thailand

Emerald and Blue is probably one of the most amazing natural pool / lagoon I’ve seen so far (I know there probably is many more out there… but, I’ve not have the opportunity to see them yet). Mum told me the colors reminded her of the China’s JiuZhaiGou Valley (Valley of Nine Villages). This natural pool is located within the National Park in Krabi. It’s located about 20+km from the main town. Entrance fees for tourist is about 200baht. You can head there on your own or simply join one of the day tours offered around the town.

Jungle trekking

It’s quite easy to navigate inside the park. From the main entrance, there are visible signboards guiding your way. It’s about 800m of uphill trek to the Emerald pool or better known as the Sa Morakot in thai. From there, you need to hike another 800m to the blue pool / lagoon. I would recommend you reach there early in the morning and head straight to the Blue pool first before heading back to the Emerald pool. But, if you reach there around noon then, I propose you take a nice cooling dip in the Emerald pool before making the 2nd leg of the trekking. It can be quite HOT trekking the second leg as there’s not much shade along the way.

Huge Trees

The Blue pool is not big but the color of the pool is really breathtaking. We were told that if we clap, we will see bubbles coming out from under the ground. Interestingly, it did !!! But, I suspect it has something to do with the vibration caused from the bouncing of the sound causing the bubbles to be released underground. You can see how the water has little waves / ripples on it caused by these bubbles. It was really beautiful and peaceful here. Our guide warn us not to try swimming in it as it’s much deeper than it looks.

The Emerald pool was semi-crowded by the time we make our way there. Becareful when getting in as the stones / slopes are SUPER slippery. It’s really dangerous to try and walk in. Word of advice – slide in on your bum 😉 AND, be really careful when getting out. I went crashing into a couple trying to get out. LOL. Lucky they were a good sport and laugh it off (Sorry again!!!). Finally, hubby manage to get out and fish me out. Phew.

Emerald Pool

There’s proper shower cubicles here. It’s not the super clean type but at least it doesn’t stink ! It was really lovely to wash off with the clean water after the effort spend trying to crawl out of the Emerald pool. hehehe.

If you are heading to Krabi and enjoys nature, Don’t miss this. 🙂

Austria, Christmas Market, December market, gluhwien, Rathausplatz, roasted chestnut, Vienna

The cold and wet snow aside, I love heading to Europe in December.

Why? Christmas Market!!! The Christmas Market in Europe always makes me feel like I’m being transported to a glittering fairytale land. It’s like reading my childhood story books and seeing pictures from my nursery rhymes come to life! Come to think of it, I love Christmas market more than Disneyland…

This year, we were lucky to have the chance to drop by Vienna, Austria just in time for their Christmas market. Yay !!! I was very excited. Even though Christmas market originally started in Germany (and is still VERY much celebrated and visited), the Vienna December market dates back to 1294.

There are a few locations for the Christmas market. But, hub and I decided to head to the one around the city hall in Rathausplatz. It’s really convenient to get there as there’s a underground station right behind the City Hall.

Vienna ChristmasMarket 03You will know you are near a Christmas market when you smell the sweet smell of chestnut being roasted. And also the smell of warm hot Glühwein . (Hot Red wine with various spice and raisins)Vienna ChristmasMarket

After strolling around for about 20 minutes, it started snowing ! LOL. It was an amazing experience to walk around the Christmas market while snowing and sipping hot Glühwein. It really felt like Christmas is here and fills me with a nice warm and loving feeling inside.

Snowing !!!We didn’t stay long as it was getting a bit too cold and we have a plane to catch…

But, I really enjoyed the short stroll we had there. If you happen to be in Vienna in December, don’t miss out on this !
