Ho ho hoo… Merry Christmas everyone.

One more week and it’s Christmas ! Yay… can’t wait. I’m really excited about Christmas this year. Why? It’s my first Christmas in my own home. How exciting it that right? And the best part is my baby sis is back from Melbourne to celebrate together. I miss the little brat. It’s almost more than one year plus I have not seen her.

I’ve always dream of having a beautiful tall and huge Christmas tree in my own home one day. Probably from too much American TV. Have you seen their crazy Christmas deco? It’s so freaking fantastic and I LOVE it. But, it’s probably abit too over the top if I do it here. People might think my house is selling Christmas ornaments. lol.

Look at this tree. I took it from One world hotel (PJ). It’s so cute with the big red bow in the centre. Massive Tree in One World hoteland look at all the presents under the tree !!!

Last weekend, we manage to find time to put up my tree in our home. It’s a small one but I love it to pieces. Hub nicely helped me to assemble it while mom, my sis and I deck it up with lights and other trinkets.

My small cute tree with one lone presentAww… it’s so pretty right? My own little Christmas tree…But, only one lonely present for now. hehehe… (hinting hinting to hubby !!!)

durian

Duri-an (Thorn fruit in Malaysian local language). Hailed as the king of fruit by most southeast Asia countries. It has an amazing lovely perfume (which non-local finds unbearable) and is covered with thorn shell. This fruit evoke extreme impression. It’s either you love it or your hate it.

DurianThis year, there is an over supplies of durian in the market. Everywhere you turn, you can see durian stall being setup. In some stall, you see literally see durian moutain stack higher than the stall itself !

There’s many variety of durian in the market. The most famous one in Malaysia is the Mousang King (Mountain Cat King). During non-season, these variety are sold for between RM30-35/kg. There was a time when it was sold for almost RM50/kg !!!

Yesterday, we had some and it was at RM 16/kg. One of my friend told us that they had it for RM8/kg (in the farm).

So CHEAP !!! must EAT more !!!… muahahaha.

The poster claims that the owner / chef Yasuji Morizumi-san of this ramen-chain being a “King of Ramen” caught my eye while I was strolling in Central shopping centre (The newest addition of big malls in Bangkok). On top of that, he is also the owner of the world’s first ramen shop to appear in the Michelin Guide.

Interesting… How can I know try, right? Ramen Menu

I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and my colleague had the Shio Tonkotsu Ramen. As we were keen to try other side dishes, we ordered the small bowl version at 130 thai-bath (RM13++).

My version is slightly creamier version of the Shio version. Personally, I kind of prefer the Shio version more (it’s a classic case of the other side is always greener… hohoho), but, the original is actually quite good. I like that the noodle texture is really nice and bouncy. The tonkotsu (pork bone) soup is not too salty (unlike some Ramen place I’ve been too). I actually love the pork slices even tough it’s quite fat. The good thing about it is that it was cooked really well that the fat melts right away when inside your mouth. Tonkatsu Ramen

As for the side, we ordered the chicken karaage (friend chicken) and also the Negi (spring onion). The chicken was ok – Nothing fantastic. I love taking my ramen with heaps of Negi. Yum yum…So, I was very happy they offer the availability to order one whole side of it.

Chicken Karaage

Negi

Do I love it? I guess. It definitely has one of the better soups I had tried so far. I drained the whole bowl of soup. Hehehe…

Does it live up to its King of Ramen title? I don’t know. I not yet tried ALL the Ramen in this world to justify that.  ;p
