Ice Room, Kota Damansara, shaved ice

37 degree !!

That was what I read on the temperature displayed on my car dashboard when I drove out for lunch. Ouch… that is painful. Not to mention, it is those types of heat where you feel as if the ray are burning tiny holes into your body.

No wonder I have been having sleepless night lately. Even with the air-con set to the coldest and blasting away was useless. I felt like I am inside an oven bakes alive. I was half tempted to just soak myself in the bathtub and sleep there. (Sadly, it was just my imaginary hope, for I own no bathtub – sigh…)

So, for lunch 2 days ago, my brother decided that anywhere with air-con is no longer sufficient. He told me there’s only ONE place to go for lunch. Since I am usually the less fussy eater, I let him decide. After some quick direction, we reach our destination.

It is a tall green building opposite the Giant supermarket in Kota Damansara.

The name of the restaurant is ICE ROOM. (I like it already)

We walked into the restaurant which was relatively colder than some air-conditioned restaurant we been to but no where near ice temperature. This restaurant actually serves shaved ice.

They have wide selection of flavoured ice. Apart from the normal fruity ice, they also have some really interesting flavour like the black sesame ice, peanut ice, bubur chacha ice, Yam ice, red bean ice and etc. Most of them are priced at around RM 7.90 – 9.90 (which is a little steep for just ice) but, on a HOT day – I am not complaining.

After drooling over the selection, I finally settle on bubur chacha ice. It was not very authentic. I think it tasted a little like vanilla. It would have been better if they drench it with some coconut milk.

My brother and colleague ordered the passion fruit ice and mango pomelo ice.

Now these are really nice… yumm.

It was definitely refreshing especially on a hot day like that. I would definitely go back there again for another try… maybe the black sesame the next round. :p

and thankfully, it POUR yesterday. I finally had a GOOD night sleep yesterday… yay !

Translating Foot Reflexology

couple time, foot reflexology, massage, organs, pampering, relax, traditional treatment

Hub and I will try to allocated some time for foot reflexology once every 2 – 3 weeks (Sunday night before facing the Monday blues). Sort of like a reward / pampering session for us. And also, we decided that it is a good couple / date time. On top of that it is a branch of traditional treatment and is suppose to be good for health.

Last week, we invited a good friend of ours, SJ, along to our favourite foot reflexology place. After 3 of us were usher in, we took our seat and wait for our masseurs to come. When I open my eyes, I was shocked they assigned this tiny girl to massage our friend for he is a big guy (almost 6ft at 90-95kg).

So, I joke about them letting the tiny girl to massage the big guy. She joke that she’s a mighty ant that can take down an elephant. Hehehee.. so ok, we proceed with our massage. Surprise surprise, SJ told us that she’s actually quite strong.

During the whole 60 minutes, it was quite funny as we try to figure out what the Chinese masseurs were trying to explain to us the pain points we felt. Some folks claim that experience masseur is able to release blockage of certain points from foot reflexology. If you explore online, you will find any charts showing area of feet that corresponds with organs in the body.

Hub and I notice how the girl pounded away on SJ’s feet. Hub finds it very funny. ;p

Seeing how enthusiastic his masseur is, SJ happily told her (in mandarin) that during one of his trip to China, the masseur that was assigned to him was so tired halfway that his breath stop. Immediately, the girl who was massaging his feet stop and stare at him in shocked.

After some translation, we figure out that SJ meant – gasping for air. ;p hahaha…

The poor girl.
