Chulet finally found some quiet time and manage to sort the pictures for her Germany trip.

So, for the first part, I will start from the begining…

DAY  1 :

Plane got delay last night from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport due to some ‘technical problem’ or .. was it run way problem.. anyway, there was problem, so, the flight was push back about 30mins.chulet in Airport

Luckily, the flight was only half-full. This means that I get to scout around for empty seats and manage to get two seats all to myself. Manage to get 4 pillows !! and 2 blankets too. hehehe.. anyway, it was a great trip as I manage to get abit of shut-eyes.

Arrived into Frankfurt and waited for almost 40 mins for our luggage !!

After that we waited for the bus take us to Heidelberg for short city tour .. During the guided tour (which was in Mandarin so, I didn’t really catch much since my mandarin is not that good), I learned that heidelberg is also a sort of University town as it is mainly revolve around the University. Since we were there during the university holiday season, the streets are pretty empty and quiet.

The Oldest Hotel in town

Church

The JAIL The amazing part is this university actually have their very own JAIL !!

Suprised? I am. As you can see from this picture, the top floor has window barred and closed up. As explained, the jail term is usually between 24 hours – 48 hours (OR was it 2 – 3 weeks ??! ** sorry for any wrong information provided as I couldn’t really catch the words from my guide very well ;oP ) The guide also say that if any student was  caught outside the university for any criminal offense, the police will actually HAVE to surrender the student over to the university to issue the”proper” punishment !! O__o

Due to the ‘novelty’ of the jail thingy, most student actually consider themselve as not a TRUE university student of Heidelberg unless they have spend some jail-time in the whole of their study term there..  ;oP (talk about peer pressure )

Random Building Picture

Random Building around Heildelberg.

(So romantic looking, ya ?! )

The tour ended with the introduction to the baboon on the bridge.

baboon on bridge

There was a long explaination given by the guide for the baboon on bridge. But, I didn’t understand what was said. So, not able to give any further information here.

Only that the baboon holds a mirror on it’s left hand, there’s also a ring on it’s left feet (suppose to be telling the world that it is faithful to it’s lover. And btw, It is a guy. (not sure why – but the guide say it is a guy)

Everyone keep stickin’ their head inside the baboon’s head (it is an empty shell – sort of like helmet amour -type you see during the roman emprire period) to take picture with the baboon.

After the tour ended, we headed to a restaurant nearby for lunch.

Apple Strudel

I had dessert for my main course. heheheh… Apple Strudel with Vanilla Ice Cream. Yumm..

The Vanilla ice cream was soooo.. GOOOD !

After lunch, we left Heidelberg for Glatt (where our hotel is for the night)

Stay tune for Day 2 ….

Spoiler : METZINGEN !! – Shopping TOWN !! ;oP

Medication to bring… ^o^

The worst thing to happen when you are travelling is to fall sick (it is even worst if it is on business). When all you wish to do is to stay in the hotel room and sleep but you know that you will need to drag yourself out and put on the smile to meet your clients.

So, bringing along some medication is very important when you are travelling. Not to mention, some of the medication might not be available in other country or the packing / language is different !! I remember once I was required to go on a emergency trip to Thailand and I didn’t have time to re-stock my medication. It took me 2 hours to finally get the medicine I needed from the Pharma there !!!

So, what do I usually bring whenever I travel?

1) SMECTA – this comes in little sachet of 3,76g white powder which you usually mix with like half a cup of room temperaure water.  This medication is from France. You can easily get it from any pharmacy (Watson, Guardian, Caring.. etc) I think it usually cost between RM 1.80 – RM 2 (not sure if the price is still same)

Purpose : tummy pain, gas, chronic diarrhea… *_*

** This is a MUST packed item especially if you are travelling to a place where food hygiene is questionable…

Some people don’t really like the taste of the powdery milk-ish solution of SMECTA (wish they make it in different flavor – chocolate will be nice or stawberry). For those of you who don’t really like the taste, try BASCOPAN. Usually, when it gets really bad, I just take both SMECTA and BASCOPAN together.

2) Clarinase / Clarintyne – pills that usually comes in stripped of 10 ? This is especially important if you are not use to cold weather or SPRING time !! (Not very attractive to give a speech and start blowing your nose now and then ;oP)

Purpose : Runny nose, cold, sniffles.

3) Antacid  – pill form / milky solution form

Many times when you are travelling for business, the eating time gets a little out of hand. Unfortunately for me, gastric gets quite bad whenever I don’t eat on time.

Purpose : Gastric.

Another trick is to always keep some dry food in your bag for such emergency. Just sneak out for a quick toilet-break and steal a bite or two. ;o)

4) PAIN-killer – panadol / aspririn / panadine..

Purpose : PAIN-KILLLER !!! I get headache whenever the heat is too much. :o(

5) Vitamins / suppliments which you normally take

Personally, chulet is NOT a fan of taking vitamins (perfer to get ’em straight from the natural source . heehee.. )

Please note that medication above are just what Chulet brings along with her. She has also consult her doctor about the suitability of these medicine for her

Kindly consult the doctor if you might have allergy to those medication above !!!!!

Peace of Mind…

This little chulet will be going on a long business trip to Europe next week…

One of the essential thing which she always pack is her ‘Peace of Mind’.

You see, unlike all chulet’s family members, chulet gets car-sick very easily. (And usually, on the business trip, it will mean spending hours and hours on the road..)

It is never destine for chulet to be chauffeured but to always graciously offered to be the driver.

The weird part is chulet never gets sea-sick or air-sick !!

According to wiki – When feeling motion but not seeing it (for example, in a ship with no windows), the inner eartransmits to the brain that it senses motion, but the eyes tell the brain that everything is still. As a result of the disconcordance, the brain will come to the conclusion that one of them is hallucinating and further conclude that the hallucination is due to poison ingestion. The brain responds by inducing vomiting, to clear the supposed toxin.

But for chulet, it is the case of “I-see-me-in-motion”, I turn green.

When I am on-board the plane or in the ship, I stay away from the windows. As long as I don’t look outside, I am good.

During one of chulet’s trip, she saw this little product from the page of the in-flight sales (sadly – that is the only place chulet usually ends up getting most of her stuff while on business trips). The product is call “Peace of Mind” by Origins. Basically what you do is massage tiny drops of the lotion into the back of your neck, temples, and earlobes. After that, just place your hand in front of your face and breath in deeply. It smells a bit like the eucalyptus leaves (koala’s food).

Peace of Mind - Origins The bottle looks so cute – how could chulet resist. So, Chulet bought 1 pack.

Anyway, Chulet got so addicted to it that on her return flight, She bought another 6 bottles ! (Shame on her !! tsk tskk…)

Now, whenever Chulet travels on road, the motion sickness #__# is no longer so un-bearable…

(I have tried all those motion sickness pills but it makes me sleepy and drowsy, which is not helping since I need to be on my wits the minute I step out from the car to meet my clients)
