Bidor, Herbal Duck Noodle, Pun Chun Restaurant, savoury Yam pastry, Wu-kok

The first stop is Bidor.

This little town is located at the south of Perak and about 1 hour 30 minutes drive away from KL.

Since this restaurant is very near to the toll along theNorth-South Highway, we decided to make this our first stop of this trip. Once you turn off at Bidor and exit the toll, you will come to a ‘T’ junction. Turn right and go straight all the way for about 5-8 minutes and you will see the Pun Chun Chicken Biscuit & Restaurant on your right. (after Jalan Besar)

I was told that they have another branch now in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam. So, for those who wish to try it out, you don’t need to venture so far. Unless you are travelling up north and looking for a place to stop and rest.

The first thing I order is the Wu-Kok (deep fried savoury yam pastry filled with roasted bbq pork). I love how the wu-kok is nice and flaky with the soft and creamy textured yam. The filing is actually with real char-siew (roasted bbq pork). You can see from the slightly reddish color of the filing.

My friends ordered the Bidor Famous Herbal Duck Noodle.

Since everyone ordered that, I decided to order their wanton noodle. The Herbal soup was really clear and strong in taste. The duck meat is soft and tears away easily with a fork. Not a big fan of their noodle. The black sauce is not that fantastic. The wanton however was really good. The mince meat is nicely marinated and the wanton skin is properly cooked all the way without leaving thick parts slightly tough and not cook (which a lot of place seems to do – I suspect it is to do with the way you wrap these little wantons). Sorry – no picture of the wantan noodle as I was too hungry by then and forgot to snap a picture. ;p

After polishing off everything, we head back to our car and make our way back to the Highway.
